Patricia Simpson

Areas of work

First Care risk assessments, Services co-ordinator and training.

Background

Patricia is a qualified psychiatric nurse and a RGN. She has 25 years experience in residential services and working with clients who have mental health and learning disabilities. Patricia is responsible for completing First Care risk assessments when clients self-refer as well as co-ordinating First Care services.

 
Mignon Braithwaite-Kilcoyne

Areas of work

Project management, floating support co-ordinator.

Background

Mignon has 10 years residential experience with the following client groups: Mental Health; Young, Single Homeless; Mother & Baby; Asylum Seekers & Refugees. She also has experience of pathway planning for former looked after children, working in bureaucratic organisations and in the voluntary sector, working primarily to reduce homelessness. Mignon co-ordinates our floating support service and provides project management for external agencies.

 
Jodi Blake B.Sc. (Hons)

Areas of work

Fitness training, nutritional advice, food for mood workshops, outreach work.

Background

Fitness advisor at Living Well Health Club, Football coaching, Saturday league football.

Jodi (of New Heights Personal Training) is a qualified personal trainer and also holds qualifications in sports massage and nutrition. First Care are aware that food plays an important part in recovery and controlling a person's moods and feelings. Jodi holds our “Food for Mood” workshops and is also involved in our outreach work.

 
Joanne Regnart

Areas of work

Project management, life skills training, outreach co-ordinator.

Background

Joanne has been working in the care field for more than 23 years, her work is varied and includes: drugs and alcohol misuse; HIV and Aids; Homelessness, and looked after children. Joanne holds our one to one sessions as well as our workshops which are solely for black users. First Care recognise that black people in addiction face additional pressures as well as those faced by the majority of people in addiction. Joanne also provides project management for external agencies and is involved in our outreach and floating services.

 
Curtis Martin

Areas of work

Black user group outreach, Peer group co-ordinator, Relapse prevention workshops. Client mentoring.

Background

Curtis originally lived in Brixton, London and came to live and work in Birmingham 3 years ago. He has experience in mentoring, outreach work and is knowledgeable in aftercare and treatment services. Curtis works predominantly with “REVIVE” our black users group and is responsible for co-ordinating the relapse prevention workshops for the group as well as our social network and one to one sessions.

 

First Care have 4 service users who have been in recovery for a number of years as well as 6 volunteers who assist with our workshops, help with fund raising and support our social network.
