Floating Support

First care's floating support service is called the SEARCH Project and it is available to anyone experiencing housing problems as a result of alcohol or drug use, or has just started a new tenancy after residential rehabilitation.

SEARCH Project Referral Procedure

Eligibility Criteria

  1. To be considered eligible for our Floating Support service, applicants must be:
    • Aged 16+
    • Living in Birmingham
    • In need of support to live independently
    • Willing to engage with the service
    • Have support needs in one of the following areas: alcohol or drug problems, offenders/at risk of offending, women at risk of domestic violence.

  2. Referral sources can include: self-referrals, floating support providers, statutory or voluntary agencies, relatives/carers or other sources.
  3. The referral form for application to the SEARCH Project can be obtained by contacting the First Care office or downloaded here. E-mail applications are encouraged to speed up the process, but we recognise that not all referees or individuals have access to the internet so faxed/postal applications are accepted. Referral agencies are expected to fill the referral form on behalf of the applicant, with their permission.
